Silk Fabrics

Silk fabric is a natural textile made from fibres produced by silkworms. The cocoons are carefully harvested and the fine filaments are unwound, spun into yarn and woven into fabric. This precise process creates a smooth, lustrous textile prized for its beauty, strength and refined character.

Silk fabric is valued for its natural sheen, softness and elegant drape, bringing depth and sophistication to interior spaces. Its ability to reflect light and create subtle variations in colour and texture makes it particularly suited to decorative applications where a sense of luxury and refinement is desired.

Yes. Silk fabric is well suited to curtaining and decorative upholstery. As silk can be sensitive to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, lined curtains are often recommended to help protect the fabric and extend its lifespan. For upholstery, silk is generally best suited to decorative or lower-traffic applications where its natural beauty, softness and drape can be fully appreciated.

Silk is a remarkably strong natural fibre and can perform beautifully for many years when properly cared for. Its longevity can be enhanced through appropriate use, careful maintenance and protection from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
